What this guy says is so true:

He said New Orleans would end up with “spotty development and angry residents” if the future of the city’s devastated areas are left up to market forces.

He is so correct. Empowering people in the local neighborhoods to decide how and what the block should look like will be a complete devastation. Its much more wiser to force the mandate of a city-wide board that has determined neighborhood design for all blocks in New Orleans. People will be so mad if their is a patchwork in design because each block has made the decision they felt best worked for their neighborhood. They would much rather have consistent homogenized city that doesn’t really suit the needs of anyone neighborhood very well but makes everything looks so much more beautiful.

I wish other cities had the vision and intelligence, and we can’t forget courage too, of this wise gentleman so that the citizenry of all cities can have their cities planned preventing the anger that comes about when you are in control of the choices and decisions regarding the layout of your neighborhood. Nothing make me more mad when i get to decide how things should be.
