Government Efficiency

This CNN story says it all:

McMillan said neither the rescue workers nor the court building had defibrillators, which can sometime revive patients by delivering shocks to the heart.

The county allocated money last year to buy the paddles but has been studying where they are needed.

Stop ripping off my artwork- first my beautifully designed birthday cards and now this wonderful photo that was showing you my beautiful tulips that you have cut out the flowers and ruined the photo.

You do realize, of course, that ’studying where they are needed’ actually means ‘we allocated the money awhile back when some safety groups were glaring at us, then forgot about it entirely because we don’t really care’ You realize that, right? Because that definitely sounds like something that could happen at any corporation- in fact, I’ve woked at a few places that talked nice for safety inspectors and then never got around to changing anything.

Your argument for inneficiency would actually be stronger if they had spent huge amounts of time and money on safety features which never got used.
