Also, none of those four things they claim to have proved with newspaper reports says anything about their actual efficacy at protecting people; furthermore we don’t know if/how that efficacy would change if guns were banned.

Obviously corrupt political organizations, just like corrupt businesses, need to be reformed. Neither of our arguments work without that step.
